These shrooms look like straight out of the movie Alien! So impressive to see all those different shapes. Go catch em all! PS: the lake looks stunning too.
At the moment I am in the rain forest of Tasmania's west coast and have not heard of Cyttaria gunnii until 5 days ago, when a coworker showed me the tiny orange globes. Now I am reading your blog about these interesting mushrooms and soak in the information that you gathered. What a funny incident. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am exited to go in the forest myself to hunt some Cyttaria.
Wow: these are truly epic, love them all. Thank you for sharing and let us to know. 🍄🟫
Love the lakes scene with the sunset too, sooo beautiful! 🌅
Wow! So cool! I’ll check the trees in my local botanic gardens to see if they grow as far north as Canberra. Thank you! Love all the photographs too.
Thanks Beth! If you do happen to spot some up in Canberra let me know :) I currently see observations mainly made around Melbourne, Great Otway NP, and Tasmania - but you never know! : https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?nelat=-8.702925701573806&nelng=157.71113138180226&subview=map&swlat=-45.05197454694775&swlng=110.94233255367726&taxon_id=410473
